In 2024, the Centre for Climate Justice-Bangladesh (CCJ-B), in partnership with Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), organized a Young Negotiators’ Training on Climate Change Science, Policy and Diplomacy. The program was designed to build capacity and skills for youth engagement in climate action and diplomacy. The program was followed by a day-long national conference called Local Conference of the Youth (LCOY) 2024. The workshop, held from 6–8 October 2024 at Global Platform, Gulshan, brought together 26 selected youth leaders and professionals from across the country. Participants received intensive training on advocacy, climate negotiations, and policy essentials, equipping them with the necessary tools to actively contribute to both national and international climate dialogues. Following the workshop, a day-long national conference took place on 9 October 2024 at Hotel Sarina, Banani, Dhaka, where around 100 youth participants joined experts, policymakers, and practitioners in panel discussions and interactive sessions. The key objectives of the events included enhancing advocacy and diplomacy skills, strengthening policy negotiation capabilities, promoting knowledge sharing and networking, developing policy drafting skills, and raising awareness of the Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) principles under the UNFCCC. A major outcome of the event was the formulation of the Bangladesh Youth Statement 2024, a collective document outlining the priorities and recommendations of Bangladeshi youth on climate action. Through this initiative, CCJ-B reinforced its commitment to empowering young climate leaders and building a strong foundation for youth-driven advocacy. By strengthening the capacities of the next generation, the organization aims to ensure more inclusive and impactful participation of youth in both national and international climate governance processes.
